Painted in 1886 during his time in Antwerp, Belgium, Vincent van Gogh s Head of a Skeleton with a Burning Cigarette is considered a juvenile joke and still revered today.

Painting skeletons was not part of the curriculum at Van Gogh s art academy. Because of this, he must have made this painting between or after his lessons. This is how we coined the name for this case, After Hours.
